Attending a coroner's inquest

e-learning

This module has been updated to reflect the GMC's 'Good medical practice' (2024) guidance.

This e-learning module will help you understand what is involved with attending a coroner's inquest and how to prepare.

By the end of this module, you should:

  • understand the purpose of the inquest
  • know how to prepare for the inquest
  • know how to give evidence
  • be aware of events that can occur from an inquest.

This course will be useful for any clinician who has been asked to attend an inquest.

The module uses examples and interactive questions and scenarios to guide you through and help consolidate your learning, with a short quiz at the end to check your knowledge and understanding.

You don't have to complete the course in one sitting, and can save your progress and come back to it whenever's convenient for you.
